George Karl, coach of the Denver Nuggets takes Coby, his son on one NBA road trip. The father son relationship they share is very special and goes much deeper than just basketball. Karl is a cancer survivor and his son Coby is fighting the disease right now.
On Tuesday night the Nuggets played the first of a five game road trip at New Jersey. It looks like this will be the last trip Coby goes on before he has another surgery on April 2, to help beat his thyroid cancer. This will be the second surgery in 13 months for Coby who is a senior guard at Boise State.
George Karl said "It's hard, and made me realize I have to take care of him." Coby also had his thyroid removed when he was diagnosed with papillary carcinoma. Whats more is fallowing the surgery he went through chemotherapy to kill any of the remaining cancer cells.
